Presentation of the student association Makin’GO with their film marahtone 6*60 and screening of 3 of their best short-cuts from the years of 2007, 2008, 2009. Makin’GO is a non-profit student association, raised in early 2007 within Gorizia’s DAMS (Faculty of Art, Music and Show Disciplines - University of Udine). In the age of image and immediate fruition, Makin’GO intends to develop a knowledge (and an awareness) of cinema and visual arts: experimentation, the search for new solutions and the development of filmmaking techniques are here given a proper place and take shape in the group’s projects.
This is what “6x60 – An all around experience”, the 1st filmmaking marathon in Northeastern Italy, was meant for. It’s a competitive event whose participants – crews that may consist of both professionals and amateurs – are called to confront each other during 60 hours to realize a 6 minutes long movie; each of them is subjected to particular constraints, referred to its style and/or content, in order to guarantee the movie’s originality. The marathon’s 1st edition, that took place in summer 2007, was followed, in December of the same year, by the “6*60 – Fast” mini-marathon, based on the idea of a 6 hours time to realize 60 seconds long movies. The 6*60 project has now reached its 3rd year, and on last July “An all around experience” gathered in Gorizia 27 crews, coming from the whole Northeastern Italy and nearby Slovenia. Besides, the event got important showcases like – just to mention the last two – last June’s screenings at Ljubljana’s Kinodvor and into the program of NapoliFilmFestival (Naples).
Alongside of the marathons, Makin’GO focuses also on direct production, particularly through a journey the association has undertaken during these years in the field of cinema events’ video documentation: the group has ranged from the raids at Trieste’s Latin American Film Festival and SciencePlusFiction Festival (2007) to the consolidated partnership with Gorizia’s Premio Amidei, an event Makin’GO has covered since 2007 with daily reports.
