PLAY – Moments that stay

PLAY – Moments that stay

In June 2019, during the 15th International Film Festival Kino Otok – Isola Cinema, authors Anja Paternoster and Kaja Horvat followed the festival vibe with a camera; the daily rhythm of a team of over 60 volunteers who help with the organization, guests who come to the festival to present their films, many other collaborators, without which the festival would not exist,  and visitors who take their time to immerse into the world of film for five days in a little seaside town.

The short documentary film PLAY offers a reflection on why film festivals matter at all. As the words of the film director Želimir Žilnik add to the thoughts:  ”A festival is important not only for filmmakers, but I would say also for the people living in the city  because for them it is a moment when the cultural life starts being more vibrant, new people are coming, then, they actually have the opportunity to see something that would not be seen in the cinemas if the festival wouldn’t exist.”
